Triathlon du Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie - 9th September 2018 (M)
Race Reporter: PhillipeA friend of mine offered me to join his tri club from Normandy, to do an M race of Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie near Nantes.Swim in the ocean, bright blue sky and a big friendly crowd. Perfect! It started on a great note despite a choppy water. It reminded me of being in the pirate boat at the fun fair. Then Followed by a criterium bike race style of 5 very technical laps in town. This meant loads of accelerations and tight turns. I pushed it too close in one corner an ended outside the track! Close call. Lesson 1: keep some a tiny margin in sharp angle turns.Very heavy winds on the bike meant it was hard to pass other cyclists. Out of nowhere I was given a blue card after passing a fellow triathlete. Having no clue what does it meant I thought it was a warning. Lesson 2: a blue card means you have to run a penalty loop. Beware, you will not find a board with your dossard number written in a penalty box fashion. You have to proactively go to a referee and ask to do this extra run (!).This was 1st time this happened to me so I naively finished the race with a lovely run along the beach front. The next day, when looking up for my time I found my ranking: DSQ!I am obviously not racing for the podium so in the end, I enjoyed a lovely race and for the rest I will be aware next time!<:fr>
